The Maritime Museum Prins Hendrik was formed around the collection of the Royal Duch Yachtclub, which was founded on the wishes of Prince Hendrik, brother of King Willem III. The Yachtclub was based on the Willemskade in the building that now houses the Wereldmuseum (Ethnological museum). Both museums have their roots in the Yachtclub. The museum's collection consists of ship models, prints, sea maps, construction designs, photo's and pictures and martime utensils. The collection holds more than half a milion objects. The museum has permanent and changing exhibitions and has a library. The permanent exhibitions are:
